Unnamed GOP Senator Blocking Appointment Of Key Bailout Overseer

Earlier this month, the Bush administration nominated Neil Barofsky, a federal prosecutor, to be the Treasury Department's special inspector general on the bailout program. ... Last week, Sen. Chris Dodd, the Connecticut Democrat who chairs the banking committee, issued a little-noticed statement saying that although the nomination 'was cleared by members of the Senate Banking Committee, the leadership of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, and all Democratic Senators,' it was 'blocked on the floor by at least one Republican member.'"

  4. #4    How is it that an "unknown" Senator blocks something--anything?
The so called opposition party never blocked anything and no Demo
Senator blocked anything in the past 8 years.

Can we guess that some of these horrible things the bush horror story put into effect could have been---blocked?

What? They claimed they could do nothing, but one Senator could and did make a block so, in other words they did not want to do something other than squeel.

  6. #6    No more political hostages! It's about time that the new Congress clean up its act, and allow the taxpayers, who are paying these people and who are their bosses know who is holding this country hostage to corrupt, deceptive political practices like these. This Congress needs to name for the American people who these cowardly Senators are who are misusing their power by holding up nominees. First, it should be made illegal to prevent the American taxpayers from knowing EVERYTHING these people are doing on our dime. Second, they need to make it illegal from any one Senator from using such corrupt, deceptive holds like these. We need to take our country back from these powerhungry cowards who misuse their salaries and their power like this. The time for reforming these types of people and these types of practices is long overdue.
