Privatisation Making Seeds Themselves Infertile

Seeds were once for ever. After harvest, a few from the crop would be planted for the following year, and so it went on. Now, biochemical industry giants are making seeds themselves infertile. You sow them this year, and that's it. For next year's crop, you need brand new seeds -- you would have to buy them, of course. Twenty-five years ago, there were at least 7,000 seed growers worldwide, and none of them controlled more than one percent of the global market. Today, after a takeover spree, 10 major biochemical multinationals, including Monsanto, DuPont-Pioneer, Syngenta, Bayer Cropsciencie, BASF, and Dow Agrosciences, control more than 50 percent of the seeds market.

  1. #1    That was the purpose of the 'Green Revolution.'
They kill off the weak and then maintain total control of the remaining population by controlling their access to food via what they can plant and grow.
The agribiz-BioChem-Franken Sci corporations actually control about 85% of the market at present.

  2. #2    Here's a bit of Conservative Reich-wing insanity. An attempt to make slaves of the Human Race. These degenerates should be in jail. This is an attack on Humanity

  3. #3    This effort at "playing God" and altering the natural blueprint does, in effect, make the multinational agricultural manipulators Gods. GMOs upset the natural balance and man's longstanding relationships with the earth. Subsistence farmers are doomed, but more importantly, the effects on the flora and fauna will be devastating. As an example, pollinators like the honey bee can be and likely are being affected. The lust for profit and power will ultimately result in the demise of life on this planet.

  4. #4    This is really sickening, by preventing farmers to harvest their seeds, you take away a huge part of our human nature.

Manufactured seeds are as dangerous to our health as the chemicals we are using in our daily life, but the main difference is that these "seeds" are changing our nautre, our genes and ultimately who WE are.

  5. #5    When these EU & U.S. corporations first began to dominate the SEED, FERTILIZER & PESTICIDE Markets worldwide, SMART GOVERNMENTS should have IMMEDIATELY moved to protect THEIR CITIZENS, MARKETS, SOURCES OF PRODUCTION and 'FOOD CHAINS'.

    HOW??
By establishing for & with their Citizens Nationwide 'Captive Markets' for SEED, FERTILIZER & PESTICIDES. That is, the Nations' GOVERNMENTS would be the SOLE IMPORTER, Standards Setter, Certifier, Financer & DISTRIBUTOR of FOREIGN & DOMESTICALLY-PRODUCED SEED, FERTILIZER & PESTICIDE to their CITIZENS. This would NATIONALIZE the Presently-Unpoliced & Corporate-Controlled Market Link between the White-Run EU & US co...

  6. #6    Currently, our government is corporate controlled. Nationalizing would actually keep control in the hands of the corporations. The real solution is more simple. House by house, garden by garden, farm by farm, reject the corporatization of our food supply and support your local food movement. Maybe the most important individual step is to find the open-pollinated (non-hybrid) seeds of a plant important to you and grow it. Save the seeds. Trade them at a local seed exchange in the fall for the other seeds you need. Simple. Clean. Beautiful. The control is back in the hands of those who care. The seed saving ritual is the ritual that made civilization possible over the past 10,000 years. It can save civilization. You can find detailed seed saving instructions on the website of a 20 year-old non-profit: International Seed Saving Institute

  7. #7    Genetic manipulation is against God, creation, and all of humanity. It is a corporate attempt to control and manipulate the world food supply. Now they are going for animals as well.(pigs today, humans tomorrow?) Patents on life should be outlawed worldwide. Everyone should be aware of what these companies are doing. Not only is this an assault on farmers, but everyone who eats. GM food and milk is extremely unhealthy -cloned meat is not healthy either. Dont eat GM food, dont grow it, and do not feed it to your kids! Support Organic farming and save the seeds before they cross pollinate with the good seeds left and there is no more of God's creation left. Humanity is lost in the corporate bottom line please stop this!

  8. #8    the problem is not just seeds monsanto is now trying to patent a natural gene occuring in pigs which most of the animals already carry if they succeed there may not be a market for pork because pig farmers will go out of buisness because they cant afford to pay fees for each!!!!! pig that they find with said gene which naturally occurs anywy

stop it now what will happen if they patent human genes next????
