From a production standpoint...only 27 [bills] have become law. From a cost standpoint, the combination of base salaries for legislators of $58,933 a year and the cost of their staffs – Senate employs about 125 staffers, House employs 190 staffers -- about $12.3 million per year for the Senate .. and $22 million for the House..."

On a day when state senators approved requiring background checks for dozens of licensed occupations, one powerful group of Ohioans managed to escape the same scrutiny.
