Weiner withdraws amendment

“I have decided not to offer a single payer alternative to the health reform bill at this time. Given how fluid the negotiations are on the final push to get comprehensive health care reform that covers millions of Americans and contains costs through a public option, I became concerned that my amendment might undermine that important goal.”

  1. #1    Standard Dimocrap strategy:

    1) Promise progressive legislation.

    2) Preemptive surrender.

  3. #3    It seems the Republicans won the last election. All Democrats that oppose the health care bill should be voted out of office as should all the Republican nay sayers.

  4. #4    There is now no recourse but to insist that this bill be voted down. No bill is better then a sellout bill.

  5. #5    it's unfortunate the Representative Weiner will not seek a vote for single payer. Even if a vote where taken, it would not pass. Our system is too corrupt and the influence of insurance company money is too pervasive. There is only one way to fix our government. We must adopt 100% Public Financing of ALL elections.

If people want a single payer health plan; support public financing.
If people want reform of Wall Street and the Banking Industry; support public financing.
If people want a less adventurous military; support public financing.

  6. #6    Just vote the whole goddamned thing down. A bill like that is far worse than no bill at all.

  7. #7    The health mafia paid hundreds of millions for this bill. If it passes the Dimocraps will take hundreds of BILLIONS from us to give to the health mafia.

The evil scumbags in DC don't see the tens of thousands of deaths and hundreds of thousands of bankruptcies. All they see is a thousand-fold return on investment.

This bill must die. We need Single Payer which means it's time for the Green Party. The lesser of two weasels is nowhere near lesser enough.

  8. #8    Comment #5: AMEN, KnowNothing! For having a name like "KnowNothing," you clearly know MORE than the current majority in Congress who do not favor public financing.

I would add this to your sage advice: go look at the 114 cosponsors of H.R.1826, Fair Elections Now Act (http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d111:HR01826:@@@P). If your member of Congress isn't a cosponsor, HOUND 'EM until become one. If they abosolutely refuse, vote 'em OUT in 2010!
