My Thoughts on Tuesday's Elections

In New Jersey, New York, and Virginia both statewide elections and an election with national implications took place. Republicans claim victory in Governor's races in New Jersey and Virginia, while Democrats won a national Congressional seat held by Republicans since the days of U.S. Grant. Now, pundits on both sides and no side are spinning, and putting their own interpretation on the results.

  1. #1    A mere ten months into Obama's term, his coattails have shredded. That's a horrible sign, however the Dems spin it. We need to see through the democratic party spin and understand it's real intent. It's real intent is to keep progressives on board a ship they should have jumped off long ago. WE NEED TO BE PREPARING A PROGRESSIVE STRATEGY FOR 2010 NOW NOW NOW!!!!!

Ignore the DemoFascist spin. Identify the few progressive dems and support them while putting up progressive challengers in every other district. Right now, we should start with the list of Dems who voted against the anti-Goldstone resolution. That's a good starting place (I don't doubt that a few of those Dems should be discounted and a few should be added, but I think it's a good starting place).

  2. #2    I think everyone is reading more into this election than is meaningful, including our excitable friend epppie.

I think you are just seeing general malaise about the economy and employment prospects, coupled with the usual racist fomenting about Obama. This election, as are most off-year elections, was indicative of nothing in particular, as far as most *sensible* political analysts indicate.
