Just to be clear, I enjoy a good conspiracy theory as much as the next person and, as I spend a good deal of time with my husband the communist and my parents, the super-liberal and the skeptic, I am also especially well disposed to a great deal of distrust for anyone who stands to make money from a negative situation. All of this considered, I would love to believe that the H1N1 vaccine is some international conspiratorial plot to either a) fill tax paying citizens with mercury and poisonous neurotoxins or b) turn out the near-empty pockets of a world economy choked by recession for those last few coins and some lint. But no matter what I read or hear, I just can’t make the leap.

The public is outraged about reports that Citi, Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and Morgan Stanley along with other big New York employers, received hundreds, even thousands, of H1N1 vaccine doses before hospitals and other healthcare providers, many of which have run out of the precious drug. For Goldman Sachs, accused of unfairly benefiting from government bailout funds and its close relationships with administration officials, the problem is especially acute. Jokes are already circulating on Wall Street about how Goldman will create derivatives out of the few doses it has and begin trading them.

That’s right, for those of you who lined up last week for 6 hours on average, you suffered their stupidity, all in the name of optic’s. Yep, they wanted to look like they knew what they were doing, and they wanted to look good doing it.

Around this time of year, the public is encouraged by government to receive their flu shots. According to the scaremongers, however, the vaccine will either kill you, maim you or induce serious disorders like autism or Parkinson’s disease. Delayed or incompetent distribution aside, do people really believe that the government is deliberately trying to poison the electorate with the vaccine? If the electorate is decimated, who will be able to vote for them? November 22 is of course the anniversary of President’s John F. Kennedy’s assassination. So around this time of year we hear a lot of conspiracy theories.

News of the Swine-Flu started drifting into the media back in April of 2009. It very soon began to seem like it was much noise about not much. Then it returned to the airwaves and started hitting all of us hard in early October...

The greatest thing about H1N1 is that it heightened social anxiety that is now out of control.

This puts the mortality rates of people dying from swine flu into perspective. Really!

President Obama has declared a national emergency for the swine flu, noting a “rapid increase in illness.” A recent CNN article covering this critical topic goes on to quote CDC director Dr. Thomas Frieden, “since the H1N1 flu pandemic began in April, millions of people in the United States have been infected, at least 20,000 have been hospitalized and more than 1,000 have died.” Yet excellent investigative reporting by CBS News shows that the actual number of swine flu cases is being significantly exaggerated.

We complain when the government spends money, but we complain when they do not. Take the millions of dollars that the government is spending on the latest round of flu vaccinations. They bought the drugs, which have yet to be proven effective in children or pregnant women, and have opened clinics to help deliver them to the masses. Every newspaper is showing stories of the latest numbers of infections and deaths, a small fraction of the numbers infected and killed by the season flu shot every year.

President Barack Obama declared the swine flu outbreak a national emergency, giving his health chief the power to let hospitals move emergency rooms offsite to speed treatment and protect noninfected patients. The declaration, signed Friday night and announced Saturday, comes with the disease more prevalent than ever in the country and production delays undercutting the government's initial, optimistic estimates that as many as 120 million doses of the vaccine could be available by mid-October. Health authorities say more than 1,000 people in the United States, including almost 100 children, have died from the strain of flu known as H1N1, and 46 states have widespread flu activity. So far only 11 million doses have gone out to health departments, doctor's offices and other providers, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention officials.---Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius now has authority to bypass federal rules when opening alternative care sites, such as offsite hospital centers at schools or community centers if hospitals seek permission. Some hospitals have opened drive-thrus and drive-up tent clinics to screen and treat swine flu patients. The idea is to keep infectious people out of regular emergency rooms and away from other sick patients.---The national emergency declaration was the second of two steps needed to give Sebelius extraordinary powers during a crisis.

"If you've been diagnosed 'probable' or 'presumed' 2009 H1N1 or 'swine flu' in recent months, you may be surprised to know this: odds are you didn’t have H1N1 flu. In fact, you probably didn’t have flu at all. That's according to state-by-state test results obtained in a three-month-long CBS News investigation."

"If you take the vaccine, you are supposed to be immune, correct? If you don't take the vaccine, you are supposed to be susceptible to the virus. Why should the vaccinated worry about the unvaccinated if they are immune? If people do not want to take the vaccine and decide to protect themselves via natural methods, how does that affect supposed "herd immunity?" Are we a bunch of cattle that lose value if we get sick? The H1N1 is not a major health risk. The regular seasonal flu is worse than the H1N1 variety, and even health professionals refuse to take it. Yet, the propaganda goes on to convince people that if certain groups of people do not take the vaccine, then "herd immunity" is compromised, and everyone is in danger."

Fewer than half of Americans say that they're planning to receive the new swine flu vaccine, despite mounting cases of H1N1 infections, according to recent polls. The reason: Persistent concerns about whether the H1N1 vaccine is safe -- a concern that dates back more than 30 years -- ever since a U.S. government-sponsored swine flu vaccination program in 1976 collapsed in disarray . . .

"The vaccine market is booming," says Bruce Carlson, spokesperson at market research firm Kalorama, which publishes an annual survey of the vaccine industry. "It's an enormous growth area for pharmaceuticals at a time when other areas are not doing so well," he says, noting that the pipeline for more traditional blockbuster drugs such as Lipitor and Nexium has thinned.

Open up your luggage and your mouth?? With the holiday season just a few weeks away, health officials fear the swine flu will pick up right along with air travel. New government guidelines are on their way, designed to help keep passengers healthy. This flu season, airport staff across the nation won't just be screening for security threats. The government says that people traveling internationally may be screened for the H1N1 virus as they leave or enter the U.S.

Notably, there is absolutely no safety data on the use of adjuvants in infants and expectant mothers -- the two groups being most aggressively targeted by the swine flu vaccine pushers. The leads us to the disturbing conclusion that the swine flu vaccine could be a modern medical disaster. It's untested and un-tried. Its ingredients are potentially quite dangerous, and the adjuvants being used in the European vaccines are suspected of causing neurological disorders.

According to the CDC, by June of 2009, one million Americans had already been exposed to H1N1 swine flu. Although the CDC hasn't released official infection statistics in recent months, with the rapid spread of the mild virus, it's not unreasonable to suspect that by now, three months later, the number of Americans who have been exposed to H1N1 swine flu has at least doubled to two million. Yet here's the interesting part: You don't see two million Americans dying from swine flu. That's because many of those who were infected by swine flu never had any idea they were infected at all. They were so-called "symptomless carriers," because they never experienced a sniffle or other flu-like symptoms. Their immune systems conquered swine flu automatically and effectively, creating antibodies and overcoming the infection by relying on fundamental human physiology.

"The death rate from the pandemic H1N1 swine flu is likely lower than earlier estimates, an expert in infectious diseases said on Wednesday. New estimates suggest that the death rate compares to a moderate year of seasonal influenza, said Dr Marc Lipsitch of Harvard University."

"In the latest step to fight an anticipated breakout of the H1N1 swine flu virus, Germany's 16 state health ministers have announced they plan to order another 18 million vaccination units. That's enough to immunize nine million more people and ensures there is enough stock should demand surge later in the year. . .A new study conducted by the Forsa Institute for DAK, one of Germany's largest health insurers, revealed that a surprising number of Germans do not plan to get immunized."

Novartis vaccine study in Britain indicates one dose of vaccine is enough. Good idea as we need 6 billion doses and have not made a tenth of that.
