If the Chinese asked the American government to extradite a person we would follow Due Process and likely send him back. In Yemen we apparently couldn't get hold of al Awlaki that way.

Yet, I believe there are two ways to see this: one is that al Qaeda attacked us an al Awlaki was clearly part of al Qaeda, so it was right to get rid of him; two is that he wasn't directly part of those who plotted and actually did attack us, so he was less obviously guilty of that. I suspect it was his real personal involvement in events which occurred more recently which got him recognized as a threat.

Just consider this statement: "I think we have to use every aspect of law enforcement that we have including the military."
First of all, the Military is not a branch of law enforcement. The GOP/Riech did their best to blur that line, to erase Posse Commitatus, but it's crucial that we reassert the separation. It also points out that he would be fine with using the Military on our streets. And since the one solution to the drug problem is off the table, that is: legalization, it means he'd escalate the War on Drugs, "we have to use every aspect of law enforcement that we have".
But the GOP is the party of "get the government off our backs", idn'tit?

I saw that story, too, but it was too late to change my headline above. Typically, the police and the MSM low-ball the figures. The good news today is that this story is starting to gain traction in the MSM. Just the fact that AP, AFP, CBS, NYT, TIME, Forbes, etc. are covering this story, and interviewing protesters to understand their demands, is a coup for Occupy Wall Street. The longer the protests continue on Wall Street and spread to more cities across the US (Boston, Denver, LA, San Francisco, etc.), the better chance the movement has to draw attention to its goals and attract more supporters and start more protests.

The federal government is not enforcing the law so the states are going to have to. It is a matter of self defense.
